Labor Day at Fort Desoto Campground
This weekend was spent at one of the most prestigious parks and beach in Florida. Fort Desoto has been a favorite of ours for years. This park is so popular you need to make reservation six months in advance or you won’t find a vacancy. I am glad I am a Pinellas resident since we have the advantage of bookinLabor Day at Fort Desoto Campground seven months in advance.
The park is filled with beautiful Florida fauna and each campsite is surrounded by mature palm trees and bushes giving you a sense of privacy from your neighbors. There are prized campsites that have glorious views of the waterway if you are lucky enough to secure one. We were lucky this time.
As a campsite guest, you can enjoy the day at the beach as part of your fee. There is also a fort on the North beach to explore sending you back in time when we needed to guard our shores from the enemy. For those of you who enjoy boating and fishing, this is considered Florida Eden. There is a boat ramp and a pier to fish from. If you are lucky, you can even catch a glimpse of the Carnival ship sailing underneath the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Each time we visit this campsite, we leave refreshed and thankful we are able to enjoy this campground which is only an hour trip from our house.
