Christmas in a Snap
Anyone who knows me understands how I feel about Christmas. It is my FAVORITE time of the year. It took a full day just to decorate the inside. The tree took the longest as I would put each ornament in just the right spot. I took great pride in having the tree look beautiful and knew the story behind each ornament. Living in Florida, more energy was spent in trying to make it a winter wonderland. It was accomplished in the years where it was a little chilly and the fireplace was lit as it crackled and engulfing us in a cozy atmosphere much like a wool blanket.
I enjoyed having family over and making it a special event for everyone. So many good memories over the years of Christmases hosted at our house. This Christmas will be a little different. Mitch didn’t have to go up in the attic numerous times to bring down my barrage of decorations. Yes, we have a fireplace but no mantel to hang our stockings. No 9 ft tree to decorate, adore and watch as the lights twinkle.
This year our decorating regime went like this. One strand of lights around my topiary, a poinsettia, a Christmas lantern and laser Christmas lighting shining on the 5th wheel when dusk is upon us. I think the entire process may have taken ten minutes in total. Definitely a different experience from years past. However, the true meaning of Christmas is not in the tree or the lights but to celebrate the birth of Christ and being surrounded by loved ones. I am blessed to have many loved ones to celebrate this special holiday.
