Seaside, Oregon

What a full-packed week we had. The campground we stayed at was Seaside Thousand Trails. It was one of the friendliest we had ever visited. Ranger Nat was great. There were plenty of activities for everyone. It had an indoor pool, tennis & basketball courts, a community firepit, and more. From there, one could ride a bike to the town’s boardwalk. The city was filled with people, and the summer hadn’t started yet. The town had a wine walk the day we got there. This town reminded me of Coney Island. There were arcades, an indoor carousel, and various shops and restaurants. The atmosphere was electrifying as people were bustling about and enjoying the day.

The next day, we drove to Long Beach, WA, to see Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in the Pacific Northwest. This bay had sunk 2000 ships and was dubbed, “graveyard of the Pacific.” The bottom of the Long Beach Penisula is where the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean meet. We took a 2.5 mile hike up a steep trail to get to the lighthouse. The view from up there was fantastic. On the way down, we decided to navigate the Deadman’s Cove Trail ending on the beach. The view was breathtaking and the sound of the waves cresting made the scramble down worth it. We also visited the Northhead Lighthouse which was only two miles away. The paved trail takes you to the lighthouse which is in much better condition than the first. Great spots for photos!

The following day, we got up early to hike to Munson Creek Falls. The trail was a little muddy due to the rainfall the night before. When we reached the falls, we were glad it rained as the water was roaring and it was a beautiful sight. Next stop, Tillamook Creamery. This establishment is a farmers owned co-op and has a 110 year old history. The farmers are proud of their product as they provide high quality ingredients which is what Tillamook creamery is noted for. The tour starts with how the animals are treated, to packaging and then to ship products nationwide as well as offering their products in creamery store. This tour wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t stop and get some ice cream. Our day wasn’t over as our last stop of the day was to Cannon Beach. This is most famous as “The Goonies” was filmed here. There was lots of people on the beach from taking a leisurely stroll to flying kites or just relaxing on a large piece of driftwood.

We thouroughly enjoyed our time in Seaside and to top it off – I was able to get gluten free fish and chips. What a bonus!
