Brinnon, WA & Vancouver Island BC

Vancouver was only an hour and a half from Port Angeles, and with passports in hand, we hopped on the ferry for a day’s excursion to Vancouver. First stop – Munchies for coffee, tea, and pastries. It did not disappoint. One of my favorite activities is to visit little shops, and there is a variety of them to choose from. A trip down Fan Tan Alley is a must, as it is the narrowest commercial street in North America. We visited Chinatown and had lunch at a little bistro. We hopped back on the ferry to return to our campground and prepare to continue our adventures.

The next day, we enjoyed our hike to Lower Lake Lena. However, it was anything but lower as the elevation gain on the hike was 1500 feet in three miles. We enjoyed our packed lunch while looking at the pristine lake below us. Afterward, we drove to Hamma Hamma Falls. Part of the drive was pretty bumpy, but we made it. The view of the falls is from above, and the surrounding mountain views are spectacular. Murhurt Falls was on our agenda for the next day. The hike led us through a beautiful forest with giant leafy ferns and moss-covered trees.

The following day, with rain threatening, we decided to get up early and search out Rocky Brook Falls. It was a short hike, and no one else was there. The forecast of rain must have kept many still in bed. It was worth getting up early before the rain as this fall was worth seeing. The rain started soon after our arrival back at the campground. It’s time to enjoy a day off.
