Elwha Dam RV Park-Port Angeles, WA Salt Creek Recreation & Sul Doc Falls
Elwha Dam RV Park was our base for the next week. It had lots of space and was not too close to other RVs. It had a lounge, laundry, amenities for the children, and an added bonus, an organic garden open to all who choose to harvest the items grown in the greenhouse. From there, we were able to visit two farmers markets – one in Sequim and the other in Port Angeles.
Salt Creek Recreation Area offers some of the incredible scenery on the coast. In low tide, volcanic rock emerges and provides easy access to the tide pools and their inhabitants. Exploration of the coves and searching for rocks can make for a leisurely afternoon. There are many places where picnics can be had. We thought we saw a water spout in the bay and hoped to see a whale, but after a few minutes, we realized that it was no whale, but perhaps the water spraying against a rock in the waters.
Sul Doc Falls Trail led us through the forest, where the maple leaves were huge. The falls roared, and the mist created puddles around the viewing area. The fall was spectacular and one not to miss. Afterward, we visited the hot springs. Admission allows one and a half hours in the springs. Even though the weather was overcast, it was an excellent way to end the day.
