Tyler State Park, Tyler Texas

During our visit to Tyler, we checked out the state park. This park has a 64-acre spring-fed lake. The park opened in 1939 and has 985 acres of outdoorsy fun. They offer campsites, cabins, and screened shelters.
There are more than 13 miles of trails. Of course, Mitch wanted to explore, but the 95+ weather didn’t do much to make our hike more enjoyable. We chose a 2.5-mile hike that meandered around the lake through a forest of pine trees. I wouldn’t recommend this activity in July. However, if we had brought our bathing suits, we could have made a splash in the inviting lake, where a designated area for swimmers and floaters could spend some time cooling themselves.
The park has a fishing pier and boat ramp. They offer boat rentals, or you can bring your own. It’s a great way to spend time fishing for perch, catfish, and bass, or take in the beautiful surroundings.
There are plenty of picnic areas overlooking the view of the lake. This is a park we will revisit when our granddaughter gets a little older and spend the day with our family.
