Roots & Wings: Welcoming 2026 with a Dream Come True

We are a little late – Happy New Year, friends! We are welcoming 2026 with full hearts and some massive news.

We are officially back in Texas, and this week, we are closing on a dream we’ve held for a long time: We bought an investment property on the lake!

Does this mean the travels are over? Absolutely not. We aren’t closing the chapter on our wanderlust; we are just finding a new balance. Think of it as having the best of both worlds—roots and wings.

The new property needs some love, so we are trading our suitcases for toolbelts for a little while. Mitch is already planning a list of projects to get the property manicured, though I suspect he’s mostly excited to get out on the water and feel the wind in his hair!

What’s Next for the Blog? We thought it would be fun to take you along on our renovation journey. We’ll be sharing updates as we turn this house into a home. However, if home improvement isn’t your cup of tea, don’t worry—our travel content returns in full force this spring when we head down the Danube River in April.
