Horse Creek Winery – Sparks, Georgia

    Horse Creek Building

Our first stop was a Harvest Host winery.  Harvest host is an RV membership allowing overnight stays free of charge.  Facilities range from wineries, farms, museums, golf courses, and breweries.  This winery was just off Highway 75 and very easy to get to.  It houses 41 acres of Muscadine grape vineyards.

It is customary to patronize the facility.  We did just that and enjoyed a wine tasting of six different wines.  Most of the wines were of a fruity nature – not particularly a fan but the last glass was drier than the others and we purchased a bottle of wine to go.  It was a leisurely afternoon after a five-hour drive.

We have booked several stops at wineries and I mentioned to Mitch we will be drinking our way to our daughter’s domicile in Texas.  If you have to stop somewhere, it might as well be a winery.  For those of you who agree, read the post they had in the reception area.  Wine has some health benefits.

    The Adventure Begins

    adventure cup

At last, our adventure is beginning.

Like so many around the world, this new unknown virus has caused major upsets in the lives of so many. Gratitude describes my current state of mind. Thankful we continued to work through this crazy time and extremely thankful no one close to me died or got really sick. While it wasn’t fun to visit my parents through a screen door or face time with my grandson when the urge to hug him was immense, the road ahead beckons us to travel the countryside as planned.
It’s time to start our bucket list. Destination – Victoria, Texas. Population 66,000

Where is that located and why would you go there? Victoria was voted the most boring town in Texas in 2017 and is nicknamed “The Crossroads” due to it being 2 hours from Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. It sounds like a place one would just want to drive through to get to a more exciting place or stop to get gas. Probably true, however, it houses something very special – our daughter. The plan is to stay 3 to 4 weeks before moving on. No better way to start our journey. There will be some overnight stays before we arrive and if we find anything interesting to post about, we will.

Until then wish us a safe journey!
