    Soothing Sunsets

Camping by the water gives us some beautiful sunsets. Living in Florida, we have seen many gorgeous sunsets; however, it was nice to see sunsets in the mountains and other vistas our travels have brought us. It is one of nature’s gifts to us to see the spectacular colors an evening has as it sets and be thankful for the ending of our day.

Please sit back and enjoy our montage of the many soothing sunsets we have experienced.

    Sailboat Serenity

There is something about the sea that evokes a calmness within the soul. Mitch has always had a thing for sailboats. In fact, his first retirement choice was to buy a catamaran and sail around the world. That dream was given a quick kibosh by me, as I am not a good swimmer, and the thought of sailing through dark, eerie nights and unexpected storms was not my ideal retirement.

I do, however, enjoy watching sailboats glide along the water with what seems like not a care in the world. They also have been the main muse in my recently new hobby, painting. From the majestic schooners to the smaller, colorful dingies, all are great models for my paintings.

Enjoy a montage of some boats we have seen in our travels.

    Lovely Lighthouses

This year’s travels on the east coast brought us to fabulous lighthouses. I became obsessed with them, much to Mitch’s chargin. I thought sharing some photos in a slide show would be fun. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

    2023 Here We Come

Mitch and I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Jack Frost made an unlikely visit to Florida as the temperatures dropped to the high 30s. It was nice to wear a Christmas sweater rather than the usual shorts and tee. Our most treasured present was not under the tree but the gift of being with family and watching our grandson’s eyes light up every time he saw his name on a gift. How wonderful to see Christmas through a child’s eye.

Looking back on 2022, we can say our east coast travels allowed us to visit friends and family along the way. Maine and the towns along the east coast did not disappoint us. We were able to add a few more states to our travel map. We had some hiccups along the way, but nothing to deter us from continuing our travels.

2023 will be our year to explore the middle of the United States and fill the apparent barren section of our map. This year’s big rock will be Michigan (the Upper Peninsula) and our international trip to France to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. On our return to Florida, we hope to stop in the states where the turning of the leaves are spectacular. My favorite time of the year is fall, but the fall foliage has yet to appear in Florida in the 40+ years we have lived here.

We wish everyone a fantastic 2023, and we hope to have you all follow us on our journey and see you along the way.
