    Hitting a Milestone

Life is often marked by milestones: graduations, births, children’s first steps, and wedding anniversaries. Mitch and I have hit one – 40 years of marriage. It doesn’t seem so long ago that we began our lives together, but today, our family has grown with our children and grandchild.

So it’s time to celebrate 40 years of love and laughter. We are taking a trip and promise to post our adventures upon our return. Here’s to 40 more years!

    Moments of Solitude

During our travels, those moments seem to appear more and more. Perhaps it’s because without the hustle and bustle of work, the barrage by social media, and the negativity often surrounding us, I now see those moments as God’s way of saying, “This is what it is all about.”

Visiting these phenomenal sights tends to calm my inner spirit, and believe me, that is a feat in itself. I now have a better understanding of how the American Indians viewed their daily life when wilderness was the scenery and not today’s evergrowing cities.

These are just a few of my favorites. Enjoy the solitude!

    Old World Charm

One of the fascinating aspects of traveling across the US is the opportunity to see architecture from decades ago. From the grandiose to the simplistic, I can spend hours walking the streets where yesteryear houses still stand tall, and their beauty captivates.

While some have shown wear and tear for hundreds of years, one cannot help but wonder what they may have looked like in their glory. A few of my favorite spots were Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, and Eureka, CA.

Hope these photos bring you back in time.

    Waterfall Wonder

What is it about water that is intriguing? Whether it be a serene lake, endless oceans, babbling brooks, or an aqua-blue sea, all seem to calm the inner spirit. They can also be powerful and invoke a sense of wonder. Waterfalls are just that, with their mighty roar signaling a message of dominance. They rush and push with a mighty force through the rocks as they reach the destination below. Once there, it’s as if their strength has waned, and now it is time to rest and leisurely glide the rest of the way.

I never get tired of watching waterfalls cascading down. Some are colossal, like Niagara Falls, while others are modest in their journey. Either way, I look forward to seeing more this year.
