Warning: Contains high levels of unglamorous homeowner maintenance!

It turns out this slice of Texas gets its fair share of storms that like to knock out the power. Because of that, a reliable generator is pretty much a necessity around here. The one that came with our place was in dire need of some serious TLC, so getting it up, running, and reliable was at the very top of our priority list.

And thank goodness we didn’t procrastinate. Just a few weeks after getting it serviced, I woke up in the middle of the night to an unfamiliar humming sound. The grid was down, but our generator had kicked right in to do its job.

We haven’t had to rely on it since, but every Wednesday at noon, we hear it cycle through its weekly test run—a lovely little reminder that we’re ready for whatever weather comes next.

We know we’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but the next few updates are going to show you exactly why. Stay tuned to see the next big project on our agenda!
