Six Months at the Lake: Major Milestones, a Danube Cruise, and the Final Five States

Can you believe it has already been six months since we closed on our lakefront property? Time has absolutely flown by, and while there are still plenty of major projects on our horizon, the power tools are officially being tabled until our return in October. Looking back at where we started, we’ve made major strides in turning this place into our true home base.

There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that this is exactly where we are meant to be for our next chapter (even if we aren’t quite ready to call them our “golden years” just yet!). Between the breathtaking sunsets over the water, quiet mornings kayaking on the lake, and the joy of hosting our very first rental guests, this property has already given us so much.

But if you know us, you know we can never sit still for too long.

Amidst all the unpacking and home improvement, we recently snuck away for an incredible two-week vacation, cruising down the Danube River with my sister and some close friends. It was an unforgettable trip, and we are so excited to take you along on that European adventure in our next couple of videos—so stay tuned for those!

As for what’s next? At the end of next month, we are hitching up the 5th wheel and hitting the road for a three-month journey to the Northeast. This is a massive milestone for us: the five remaining states on this route are the very last ones we need to completely fill in our map of the United States!

Our hope is that our timing is just right to catch the spectacular changing of the autumn leaves before we head back to Texas in October. Fingers crossed for perfect fall foliage.
